Iowa ASC News
2010 IAASC Goals
- Increase membership within the state of Iowa during
2010.
- Calls to be made to all non-participating
centers that are Medicare approved. Currently there are 26 ASC in the
state that have Medicare Certification.
- As of January 2010, we have 15 ASCs
- Continue to add value to our members:
- Provide an ethical arena for networking.
- Increase communication among members:
- Maintain conference calling capabilities for members and
sub-committees.
- Promote routine and timely communication to all members.
- Provide an opportunity for experts to share ideas and help
problem solve issues.
- Research and present a process for team members to benchmark
their center's performance.
- Continue IA ASC Salary Survey through ASC Association
- Tabulate number of ASC using ASC Association Quarterly Outcomes
Monitoring Project
- Notify membership in advance of annual meetings. Post updates on
website.
- Endorse organizational development. Participate in the Iowa
Healthcare Collaborative.
- A member of the ASC Association Board to sit on the Provider
Advisory Committee
- A member of the ASC Association to sit on the Patient Safety
Committee and one on the Data Committee
- Annually provide education on the organization's mission and anti-trust compliance.
- Present at February meeting
- Review roles for
leadership positions as stated in By-Laws. Create actual job descriptions if
needed with more details.
- Establish sub-committees and define roles and responsibilities.
- Hold committee heads accountable by requesting updates at each
meeting.
- Actively
support initiatives driven by the ASC Association when aligned with the
association's mission and goals.

- Promote physician participation:
- Seek input from Medical Directors and Board members at the ASCs.

participation from Office Managers to become involved in IAASC.

PAC development to support legislative agenda
- Explore relationships with other surgical subspecialty organizations.
- Think strategically now and down the road:
- Develop key goals to address public education, legislative relationships, industry
regulations and reimbursement.

Plan and present an educational session at the May general meeting on how to build a
relationship with your legislative members.
- Ask a member attend the Legislative Conference in Washington DC
- Review website host and ROI

Ask Wisconsin Physician Services to develop an ASC advisory committee and provide a
consistent message by identifying one resource person that IAASC members can
contact with questions.
- Continue to seek seats on various committees that govern our industry.
